Seriously, the heart-eye emoji doesn't feature on this list?!

We all know what it's like when we're texting that person we like: we spend hours crafting the perfect message only to hate everything we write and just send some random emojis back. But did you know your choice of emojis could be actually putting them right off you? And that there are certain emojis proved to make sure your crush likes you back? Shocking, but very true.

Research done by dating app Clover has discovered exactly which emojis work well in nabbing a response and a date and which emojis seem to put people right off. So if you're eager to up your messaging game then continue reading.

Here are the emojis to send to your crush

According to Clover, the most successful people on their app use emojis to flirt (don't we all?!) but not all of them get a perfect response. However, the following ones are key in making sure your crush messages you back and falls in love forever.

Apparently women respond best to the sassy girl emoji, the hungry face, the tongue out face and the smirk... So it seems most of us females like someone who has a little bit of charisma about them and appreciates food? Sounds about right!

And here's what NOT to send

Before you send one of the following, take a step back because these are apparently a huge no-go and end up being a pretty big turn off: the egg plant emoji (we all know what that means!), the bicep emoji, clapping hands or the fist bump. Again, to analyse this it seems we're not a fan of people who show off about their big, er, biceps and the clapping emoji could be seen as sarcastic.
