Jake Paul and FaZe Banks

By Josh Lee

Yet another twist in an already very convoluted story.

Team 10 member Max Beaumont has walked away from the social media group following allegations of assault made against YouTuber FaZe Banks by Jake Paul, Erika Costell and Jake Paul's assistant.

On 18th August, Jake Paul shared a video to YouTube in which he accused Banks of purposefully assaulting his assistant Meg Zelly, leaving her with a large bruise on her neck. Banks strenuously denied the allegations and after some public back and forth, the pair agreed to let the relevant authorities handle the situation.

However, one Team 10 member has decided to speak out against his fellow team members

Speaking to Faze Banks over the phone in a video shared by Banks on 23rd August, former Team 10 member Max - who was at the club where the assault allegedly took place - says "I do not believe you intentionally assaulted [Jake's assistant]. I believe that, if anything, you accidentally bumped into her. I can't explain the bruise and she's my best friend for seven years so it's so hard for me to say this. But the way I saw you that night, I don't see how it's a possibility that you went from this nice guy who came over and gave me a hug someone who started swinging at her afterward."

Max has since taken a "social media break"

In a statement shared to his Twitter profile, he said: "This whole experience has highlighted for me how dangerous social media can be. Reputations were damaged, including my own, over completely false statements... In light of recent events I have decided to take a break from social media. I will be returning to university full time and focussing on my education."
