Channel 4 have just announced an upcoming spinoff to their smash hit reality show 'Gogglebox' - and it's all about internet video
Popular TV show has announced a new spinoff called 'Vlogglebox', which involves young people watching and reviewing internet videos. Sound familiar? The news comes via Buzzfeed's TV editor Scott Bryan:
There's a Gogglebox spin-off: Vlogglebox has been announced. It'll see young people reviewing viral videos and online stuff. E4 18th June.— Scott Bryan (@scottygb) May 25, 2017
Gogglebox is a popular British reality TV show on which different groups of people watch TV and provide commentary. Despite its simple premise, the show has proved immensely popular for its grounded, real-life vibes and many of the people who appear on the show have become stars in their own right.
The spinoff show 'Vlogglebox' will apparently stray from Googlebox's proven formula, by having the viewers review the videos in places outside the home, including on the go. Looking at the setup, you can't help but be reminded of the Fine Bros smash hit 'React' YouTube series, which Channel 4 has almost certainly looked at for inspiration.
Instead of being on family sofas, much of it will be filmed by cast themselves at fast food places, buses etc. Same reviewers each week.— Scott Bryan (@scottygb) May 25, 2017
How similar will the show be to the Fine Bros' famous show? Will the existence of this show make the Fine Bros really wish they'd managed to trademark the concept of 'react' video? All will be revealed when the show hits channel E4 on the 18th June.
