Did you guess it correctly?!
If you've not been keeping a mental or written tab on the most popular YouTubers of 2016, then you've been saved because Zefr is here with some breaking news. According to them, the most popular YouTuber in 2016 in terms of engagement and video views is a YouTube channel a lot of people may not have actually heard of... it's the Brazilian comedy channel, Porto Dos Fundos!
Formed only three years ago and with over 12 million subscribers so far, this team of comedians managed to amass more than 2.9 billion video views in 2016 alone with their superb satirical comedy covering a variety of topics. Porto Dos Fundos (which is actually Portuguese for "back door") was created by Antonio Tabet, Fabio Porchat, Gregorio Duvivier, Ian SBF and John Vincent de Castro - and you can see a selection of their videos right here!
Zefr is an LA-based company that "tracks and ranks the trending engagement of the top digital influencers across thousands of data points to find out who is the most influential", according to Mashable. The rest of the top five is incredibly interesting as well, judging that the most subscribed YouTuber in the world doesn't seem to be anywhere near as "influential" as his counterparts. Also, it's crucial to note that the majority of the most influential YouTubers are actually gamers too...
Here's the official Zefr Top Five ranking, with some YouTubers you probably have heard of:
- In second place is JackSepticEye with 1.9 billion video views.
- Next up, in third place, is VanossGaming with 1.6 billion views.
- Surprisingly, fourth place went to PewDiePie who also got 1.6 billion views.
- And fifth place is taken by Roman Atwood with a staggering 1.4 billion video views.
Make sure you subscribe to the Brazilian comedy group as clearly these guys are doing something right and you won't want to miss what their 2017 has in store for you!
