Instagram Is Reportedly Introducing Hour Long Videos

Who wants hour long Instagram videos? No one. The answer is no one.

Instagram is getting ready to introduce an update that increases the maximum length of videos on the app, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

Instagram videos are currently capped at 60 seconds in length on the feed and 15 seconds in length within stories, but according to this report all of that is about to change. The hyper-popular media sharing app will take off the digital training wheels and allow videos of much longer length (reportedly up to an hour long) to be uploaded to the service, although the focus seems to mainly be around stories, so there's a chance this won't apply to standard feed videos.

This news will not be particularly welcome over at YouTube HQ, which is already having to deal with the rise of long form video on both Facebook and Twitter - as well as the seemingly unstoppable rise of Twitch.

This is not the first update Instagram has introduced which has raised some eyebrows. They first attracted attention when they stole, ahem, sorry, 'borrowed' the idea of stories from Snapchat (remember Snapchat? lol) and recently they got some bad press when it was revealed how the app deliberately withholds your likes so you'll use it more.
