Instagram addicts, beware - the app is about to put your habits on blast.

Kevin Systrom, Instagram's CEO, revealed on May 15th that the company is developing a new way for users to keep track of their time on the photo-sharing app, saying that any time spent on the app "should be positive and incremental."

He added: "Understanding how time online impacts people is important, and it's the responsibility of all companies to be honest about this. We want to be part of the solution. I take that responsibility seriously."

It's not yet known when Instagram's new feature will be available, but with a 2017 report suggesting that Instagram is the worst social media app for young people's mental health, it could be the wakeup call many of us need.
