Jaclyn Hill has been through it lately and it's just got a little bit worse. Someone has discovered a video she posted about her lipsticks before the whole Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics scandal and it's extremely telling.
Jaclyn Hill responds to "hairy lipstick" controversy in new video
Basically, after five years of collaborations and using other people's products, the YouTuber decided to bring out her own range of nude lipsticks. However, a lot of Jaclyn's customers complained that their lipsticks arrived "contaminated" with hair and bumps in them.
At first, Jaclyn wasn't very quick to apologise. But later, she posted a video on her YouTube channel and said that the "unknown fibres" had been caused by the "cotton gloves" her factory workers were wearing during the production process.
She recently apologised again on her Instagram Story after saying her YouTube apology made her "cringe". She also added that whoever had bought her lipstick would receive a full refund, including their shipping and taxes.
"I have done everything – honestly – that you can think of," she explained. "I have consulted with so many CEOs the past ten days figuring out how exactly to fix this, to make it right and make sure it never happens again. This is a whole new world for me, having my own brand, not having a collaboration.
"The last thing I want to be known as is the girl who puts out crappy products, like it breaks my heart."
so even here on her personal lipsticks during the swatching even she had fuzzies on As If. at that point it would have been smart to check the lab for any problems #jaclynhill pic.twitter.com/3FhPvOuXPy— KittyTea 🍵 (@Kittyctea_) June 13, 2019
Anyway, judging by Jaclyn's devastated reaction to the backlash, you'd think this was the first time she had heard of the issues surrounding her products. However, an unearthed video from before the scandal broke is sweeping the internet right now and it kind of makes it seem like the problems were obvious before.
In the video, Jaclyn is holding one of her nude lipsticks. Just as she's about to apply it to her lips, she notices that there's something on there. "Do 'As If' because this is equally as nude, but it is a – oh my gosh, what is on there? Sorry, this is my personal collection I’m using right now," she said.
Sure, this could be a complete coincidence that there was something on her lipstick. I mean, who doesn't get hair on their lips from time to time…
But considering everything that had happened, people online had their suspicions.

Ok but what if that means she made the video before her divorce? Which would mean she new there would be an issue with the products before the launch and prerecorded the vid? Probably a reach but... #jaclyncosmetics #jaclynhill https://t.co/085myoJOK2— 🌻Ambs Bambi🌻 (@AmbsBambii) June 19, 2019
Jaclyn hasn't responded to this video just yet but whatever happens, she's working on getting everything with her brand sorted out pronto.
"At this point I have sent out my lipsticks to five different labs that test product vigorously and spent over $100,000 dollars on this process," she continued on her Instagram Story.
"It sucks and I'm so disappointed in myself. Long story short, the lab that I worked with I will never be working with again, obviously. There's been many people fired over this. We've got an entire new team that we're building for quality control because obviously that didn't work.
@Jaclynhill @jaclyncosmetics I am a huge supporter! Seriously love you. I was soooo excited to buy your lipsticks. Today when I went to put on "Decaf" ..I noticed there was a hard ball inside of it. What is it? Can I get a replacement? pic.twitter.com/D9acDVtDgH— Krystal Duarte (@mizzgrizzlybee) June 7, 2019
"I'm going to push back several launches that I have because I really want to hone in on this and learn from my mistakes, and learn some very valuable lessons so that hopefully one day I can prove myself to you guys, no matter how long that takes."
