This stunning series from photographer Linda Blacker aims to celebrate POC creators from the YouTube community - and the amazing things they have to offer.
The YouTube community is doing a little better these days with their approach to diversity; but there are still a lot of steps to be taken for equal representation across the site. And while a lot of that lies with YouTube as a business, there are a lot of things creators can do to uplift their less represented fellow creators - something photographer Linda Blacker aims to fix.
14 POC creators have participated in a stunning new portrait series, organised and shot by Linda.
Top L-R: Percelle Ascott, Jayde Pierce, Laila (NeffyFroFro), LailiaLoves
Middle L-R: Jana Vlogs, Estarelive, Grace Victory, Joivan Wade, Lizzie Loves;
Bottom L-R: Eman Kellem, Amena, Taha Khan, Scola Dondo, Leslie Wai
Linda has become a local legend for her fantasy-oriented YouTuber photoshoots; but this series aims to celebrate real creators for their real aspirations and creativity.
Each individual portrait features a creator with a theme of their choice, such as "endurance" or "strength".
The stripped-back photos are gilded in an ornate portrait frame, that sets off an incredible contrast; while each person wields a gold item or accessory that represents their theme.
Eman Kellam toys with a chess piece.
While Jana Vlogs opts to wield a pair of golden hands.
Amena's gold plant/crown/hijab combo is stunning.
And Taha Khan's scales are especially poignant.
Each of the 14 creators involved will go into greater detail about what their individual portraits mean to each of them; but for now, you can find more information on Linda Blacker's Instagram.
