She's also suing Poppy for allegedly stealing her character
Mars Argo, the woman who originally played a character similar to That Poppy, is suing Titanic Sinclair and Poppy (real name Moriah Pereira). Mars alleges that she was the victim of ‘severe Emotional and Psychological Abuse' at the hands of Sinclair, and accuses him and Pereira of stealing her look, persona and character.
Argo is seeking (unspecified) damages, and a domestic violence restraining order against Titanic Sinclair.
Who is Mars Argo?
Mars Argo is a singer who collaborated with Titanic Sinclair for a period of time, before effectively disappearing from the internet. Yesterday posted her first tweet in two years:
I started this journey long before the #metoo movement found its footing, but I so am grateful for the brave women who shared their stories before me. I hope that by telling mine, I can be a voice for those who come after me pic.twitter.com/4uT7QHhEtz— Mars Argo (@marsargo) April 17, 2018
What is her relationship with Titanic Sinclair?
According to court documents obtained by The Wrap In the suit filed Tuesday in federal court in California, Mars Argo (real name is Brittany Sheets), says that she had both a romantic and professional relationship Titanic Sinclair (real name is Corey Mixter), and that together they created over 90 videos.
But as her popularity grew, things allegedly turned dark behind the scenes. The papers state that “Ms. Sheets was living a nightmare and, behind closed doors, she was enduring severe emotional and psychological abuse and manipulation from Mr. Mixter.”
In the end Sheets broke up with Mixter in 2014 because of "recurrent infidelity” (cheating) in 2014. After the break up, Sheets says that Mixter “began to repeatedly harass, stalk, threaten, and abuse Ms. Sheets, including – but not limited to – threatening to commit suicide, repeatedly showing up unannounced at Ms. Sheets’ doorstep, breaking into her apartment, stalking her every move on social media, disparaging her to mutual friends, acquaintances, or others in the industry, and even physically assaulting her.”
Sheets then made the decision to no longer work professionally with Mixter, but she says the result of this is that his “intimidation only intensified.”
How is Poppy involved?
According to the lawsuit: Mixter “calculatedly transformed another woman, Moriah Rose Pereira — known by the stage name ‘ThatPoppy’ or ‘Poppy’ or ‘I’m Poppy’ (collectively, ‘Poppy’) — into a Mars Argo knockoff.” The suit names a number of things that Mixter and Moriah supposedly took from 'Mars Argo', including “a specific platinum blonde” and "Mars Argo’s distinctive speaking voice."
We will update this story as the case progresses.
