It's like Vine meets HQ Trivia

A new app is coming for Vine's crown, and we have to say it's pretty damn sweet. Oevo, which stands for 'Original Entertainment Video Online' and which is pronounced Oh-ee-voh (yeah, pretty awful name) lets users creates short videos just like Vine, but which a couple of intriguing twists.

First, the app lets you make videos up to seven seconds long, as opposed to Vine's paltry 6. Second, and most importantly, the app gives users the opportunity to make some sweet, sweet cash from their videos.

How can you make money on OEVO?

OEVO has daily contests and hands out cash prizes to the most popular videos. The apps top 25 creators get to spilt a daily $100 prize pot. It looks like other apps have taken a page out of the excellent HQ Trivia's playbook and realised that, shockingly, people like it when a free app hands them money.

Now, there's a chance that the fact that the most popular creators are offered cash might encourage the kind of cartel behaviour that was one of the main reasons Vine became so bad near the end, but OEVO is still young so we won't write it off just yet.

How to download the app

You can download OEVO for free right now on both iOS and Android. At the very least, the app should tide you over until the release of Vine's upcoming sequel V2.
