We the Unicorns

We will never see badgers the same way again.

Recently, PewDiePie flew all the way to America to have a chat with Conan O'Brien about his latest YouTube Red series, Scare PewDiePie. As well as talking about when he told his parents about quitting his full-time education for a career on YouTube, the two teased an upcoming episode of 'Clueless Gamer' in which Conan tries (and fails) to play a video game with PewDiePie's help. Well it finally happened, and we now officially want to play Far Cry Primal.

Felix tries multiple times to teach Conan how to play the first-person survival adventure game, but all we get are action shots of the Clueless Gamer spinning around throwing clubs into the air - this is a metaphor for the whole video. In fact, the duo are so bad at playing Primal, the game somehow goes from being a prehistoric scavenger hunt into becoming a comedy. Two of the most important things we learnt are: that Conan literally has no idea what he's doing at any given moment of the day, and that prehistoric badgers are both sexually violent and murderous. Seriously.

The video is a charming watch with two different types of gamers colliding, but it left quite a few fans disappointed. From Conan's side of the field, his usual and nonsensical rating system was totally absent from the segment and he seemed to engage very little with Pewds. On the other side is Felix, who was clearly amping down his usual OTT performance either due to nerves or out of embarrassment. Either way, whilst the video is hilarious and we'll never forget that badger, this particular episode of Clueless Gamer isn't one we'll be revisiting anytime soon.

We at Unicorns HQ love when we get to watch and talk about the YouTube/Mainstream crossover, but why is it so often that it never works out for the best? Aside from seeing actual PewDiePie sit next to actual Conan O'Brien, neither seemed comfortable enough to be themselves and demonstrate that each person could be successful if their roles were switched and suddenly Pewd's had a TV show whilst Conan when online.

The main winner of the video was Far Cry Primal, which looked every bit as funny and beautiful as we remember from Far Cry 3. The game is out now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and is due for release on the PC on the 1st of March.
