What the HELL is going on?

It's not news that PewDiePie has been pretty controversial recently; with Felix throwing digs at Marina Joyce, encouraging rumours that he had joined ISIS and even un-verifying his own Twitter account - but now he has paid a pretty heavy price for his dark sense of humour.

After disappearing for a sunny week away with his fellow YouTuber and girlfriend, Marzia, Pewds came back and did the unthinkable - he un-verified his Twitter account. He was apparently sick of the "status system" that he claims rules social media. A parody news twitter account tweeted a fake story stating that he had been stripped of his verification tick because he'd joined ISIS. Felix saw the funny side of this and went along with the joke:

The above tweet from PewDiePie that encouraged this rumour saw the YouTuber, with over 47 million subscribers, temporarily suspended from Twitter. That's when things took an even stranger turn - as Pewds began to rapidly lose masses of Twitter followers.

In the early hours of this morning (Friday 2nd September) Pewds tweeted the hashtag #deletepewdiepie after he noticed that he had lost over three million subscribers since he posted the tweet that got him suspended. Obviously his fans were concerned and took to Twitter to ask what the hell is really going on?!

And it gets worse, at the time of writing, PewDiePie currently has only 64.9 thousand followers - and no one really knows exactly what has happened, or why.

At this moment in time, we don't have any solid confirmation as to why Pewds has lost so many followers. Some Twitter users have claimed that the social media platform has automatically been deleting followers due to his suspension, whereas others think that he may be just trolling. We will update you when we know more.

Let us know why you think PewDiePie has lost millions of followers in the comments and in the meantime, check out our latest episode of SLAY or NAY to catch up with all of this weeks YouTube news.
