Strictly Come Dancing is getting another YouTuber – and you might recognise her.

Today (1 Aug), it was announced Saffron Barker will be joining the line-up of the popular dance programme, which will air later this year. The YouTuber, who has over 2 million subscribers, said it was a "dream come true" to be on the show during an interview with Heart.

"I am really excited to go on the Strictly journey and am feeling very grateful for the opportunity!" she said. "I’m looking forward to learning all of the dances, finding out who my partner is, getting to wear the costumes and to just experience this once in a lifetime opportunity."

She's not the first YouTuber to make it on Strictly, though, last year Joe Sugg slipped into his dancing shoes and became the first YouTuber on the show. He was a hit with the viewers too, storming into the final with his partner Dianne Buswell.

Saffron revealed that she's looking forward to filling Joe's shoes. She continued: "I'm excited to follow in his footsteps. He's done absolutely amazing… I've got a lot to live up to."

What is the Saffron Barker suicide scandal?

However, Saffron's casting in Strictly Come Dancing has caused backlash from people online, who brought up her past controversial behaviour.

Last year, Saffron posted a now-deleted YouTube video where she complained that someone delayed her train journey because they took their own life.

"[It should have taken] 50 minutes, but instead it took me four and a half hours," she complained.

"So basically, obviously it’s really sad, someone did get hit by a train, but it meant that I couldn’t get home and it wasn’t just I couldn’t get home, it was the most stressful thing. They weren’t doing no buses to help anyone, I was in an hour taxi line, stood in the cold for an hour taxi line."

At the time, Saffron lost subscribers because of her insensitive comments and she later apologised in a follow-up video.

Since people have questioned if Saffron should be on Strictly, her representative has given a statement to Metro.co.uk and insisted she's sorry.

They said: "Saffron sincerely apologised straight after this incident, it’s a comment she regrets and is now in the past."
