#IStandWithShane has been trending overnight.
Shane Dawson has claimed that he was kicked out of a military party for "not being straight".
Shane Dawson was reportedly attending a "Remind The Nation" event with his boyfriend Ryland Adams, but later claimed that he was violently "thrown out" in a string of (since-deleted) Tweets.
Shane also blamed Conservative news rep Tomi Lahren, who was in attendance and apparently saw he and Ryland holding hands. Since the altercation, #IStandWithShane has been trending as fans have shared their support.
Ryland backed up Shane's claims on his own Twitter, saying "I can not believe this still exists in our world".
. @RemindTheNation just kicked me out of their party for holding Shane's hand. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS STILL EXISTS IN OUR WORLD @TomiLahren— Ryland Adams (@Ryland_Adams) January 24, 2017
Since then, Video from Shane's Snapchat has surfaced from after their removal and he challenges the people throwing them out to "say your f*cking names!"
But reps from the party can also be heard in the video claiming Shane and Ryland were "not on the list".
Since the original altercation, Shane has deleted his original Tweets; and has followed up with a thread, in which he apologises; both for feeling "overwhelmed" and for possibly unfairly blaming Lahren.
i'm sorry for deleting all of this. i'm overwhelmed and i need to process this. love u guys. please love each other. ❤— Shane Dawson (@shanedawson) January 24, 2017
.@TomiLahren u may have had nothing to do with what security did to me tonight & i really don't want to cause a thing. i'm sorry for (cont)— Shane Dawson (@shanedawson) January 24, 2017
@TomiLahren (2/2) bringing your name into this. i was just really sad & shocked. i don't want to cause a thing. i hate it. love and peace.— Shane Dawson (@shanedawson) January 24, 2017
Remind The Nation have yet to offer comment.
Hopefully Shane will shed some more light on this when he feels prepared to; but if he truly was removed based on his sexuality, then there's no doubt this will become a much bigger issue.
