We the Unicorns

By Benedict Townsend

YouTube veteran Shane Dawson has released a brand new music video 'Famous YouTuber' in which he hilariously parodies some of the nastier video-making habits that have taken over YouTube. We have some highlights, after the video:

If we take a look at some of the 'tips' in his song, you can see what he's getting at:

  • "Act like your 18, even though you're 33."
  • "Makes lots of money selling literally everything."
  • "I wish I had some kids, so I could force them to do challenges."

We're not going to speculate who these lines are aimed at, but we're sure you can make a pretty good guess...

As you can see, Shane throws some MAJOR lazer shade - and it's too damn funny! We can't help but agree that certain parts of YouTube have become overrun with people who live fake lives purely to get views and money. It's brave of Shane to point it out and it was smart of him to do it through a catchy song rather than a preachy rant. Anything that encourages originality and honesty, while also being funny - is a 10/10 in our books.

His song comes at just the right time, as YouTube audiences appear to have started turning their back on mean prank videos.
