His letter follows leaked screenshots that allegedly show him using extremely sexually explicit language to an adult performer

Veteran family vlogger Shay Carl has posted an emotional letter to Twitter explaining that he "will not be on the internet" for the foreseeable future; because he is entering rehab due to "alcoholism".

You can read the full message below.

This letter follows a series of images that were tweeted out by Aria Nina, a YouTuber and adult webcam performer. Nina alleges the images show Shay Carl making highly sexual statements towards her in a Twitter direct messages (DM) conversation. We deemed the DMs to be too sexually explicit to post on the site, but here's a censored version, where you can see what is supposedly Shay's name and Twitter verification tick:

Aria also posted a video of her scrolling through the DM conversation in a bid to prove its authenticity. Again, the video contains language that is too explicit for us to post here; but if you want to take a look you can click this link (NSFW).

Shay's letter does not specifically make reference to Aria's tweets, but the lines "I'm sorry I let you down, I'm sorry I let my family down" may well be referring to the cam girl's claims. The timing of his letter shortly after her revelations might also suggest a link; but we are unable to confirm or deny her assertions at this time.

This story will be updated as more information comes out.
