Jon Sudano is trolling the entire internet with his Smash Mouth-ified karaoke covers of literally any other song.
Let's get one thing straight: Ironically or not, nobody can deny that Smash Mouth's 1999 single "All Star" is one of the greatest songs of all time. Its place in history as a part of the "Shrek" soundtrack has resulted in over a decade of tributes, parodies and mashups; And now one man is out to prove to the whole internet that every song is better when it has a little "All Star" in it.
Over the past week, Jon Sudano has gained over 50,000 subscribers on his channel for his charming karaoke videos - almost all of which involve him singing the lyrics to "All Star" over literally any other song. It's the magical musical type of sh*tposting that makes us thankful the internet exists.
Here's how it sounds when you smash "All Star" into the mouth of "Y.M.C.A."
And other internet favourite, Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life", also got a smashing Smash Mouth s-mashup.
Also here's Jon's rendition of the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" theme song. Just 'cause.
Now back to Smash Mouth, because not even Adele is safe.
Jon has rapidly become an internet sensation, and seems to be enjoying the attention. While his antics have yet to be noticed by the band themselves, his videos have been seen by hundreds of thousands and he was featured on Chris Hardwick's "@midnight". It's safe to say he's definitely a shooting star that's breaking the mold...
