Smosh Speak Out Against Obsessive And ABUSIVE Fans

They have finally spoken out
Ian Hecox from Smosh today tweeted a statement regarding a section of the Smosh fan base that have been taking their fandom to unacceptable and abusive places. Here it is:

You can see where Ian is coming from - while a YouTuber may be fine with shipping (though whether they are or not is their decision to make), when it comes to obsession and abuse with regard to a fantastical relationship that's never going to happen, things stop being a game and become a serious problem. It's a sad truth that partners of popular internet stars have often been the victims of abuse from jealous and/or trolling 'fans' and we hope that Ian's statement will help people to wake up to the fact that this is unacceptable.
