Apparently the police aren't fond of flamethrowers... who knew?!
Tom Syndicate has landed himself in hot water with British police after playing around with a flamethrower that was sent to him by Elon Musk. Yes, this is a real story.
So, Elon Musk, famous eccentric billion and submarine designer, decided a while back that he would build his very own flamethrowers and send them out to people. A safe and sensible use of his time and vast wealth.
YouTuber Tom Syndicate ended up with one of these flamethrowers-that-aren't-officially-flamethrowers-but-they-throw-flames-so-come-on-now and decided to take it for a spin.
Turns out flamethrowers are... somewhat illegal
The police, a famously chill and carefree bunch of lads, cottoned on to Tom's flame-based antics and decided they wanted to get in on the fun. "Where did all these flames come from?" They asked themselves. "Who is throwing them?" They then went along to Tom's home and kindly reminded him that civilians owning military-grade fire weapons is actually somewhat frowned upon.
Update regarding the @elonmusk @boringcompany 'Not a Flamethrower'— Tom 🛴 (@ProSyndicate) August 16, 2018
Had a phone call with the police and they've said it's in breach of,
- Section 5 firearms act. Section 5.1b.
(b)any weapon of whatever description designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid, gas.
That then leads to allegedly breaking the Section 1 firearms act law.— Tom 🛴 (@ProSyndicate) August 16, 2018
So what does this mean?
Either hand the 'Not-a-flamethrower' over to the police.
They arrest me for being in 'possession of it' & search my house for it.
Obtain a warrant to search my house instead.
Leaving Tom in the legal pickle that he finds himself in now. Best of luck Tom!
