We the Unicorns

By Liam Dryden

This is legit blowing our minds (no clickbait).

So it's not very often we cover music videos on their own here at We The Unicorns; but we're definitely all about that "holy sh*t check this video out" life. And this latest offering from Russian band Leningrad has got our minds blowing right out the front and back of our heads.

Leningrad (or ?????????) released a music video for their new single "Tattoo Artist" this past week; and the technical aspect is freaking us out. Directed by Ilya Naishuller, not only is the video a mind-bending masterpiece full of blood, sex and trippy circus-based imagery; but it has also been edited so that the video can be played both forwards and backwards, and still synch up beautifully with the song.

Okay, so us explaining it isn't doing the job; it just has to be seen to be appreciated.

Watch the original video from Leningrad in reverse first.

(Content warning for a bit of blood and gore).

Now watch the video in chronological order.

The "Tattoo Artist" video was re-edited by another YouTube user; and it is revealed just how well the song fits with the re-reversed video too.

So it's no wonder the original music video has nearly 5 million views in under a week; it's got the perfect blend of viral intrigue, artistic beauty and gimmick. We're going to be watching it back and forth all day...
