The .gif disappeared temporarily recently

A few months ago, Instagram made all our dreams come true by integrating with Giphy, allowing us to use .gifs in Instagram stories. But in March, they disappeared without warning.

Where did the .gifs on Instagram stories go?

The photo-sharing app decided to temporarily remove .gifs after one with a racial slur made its way into the app. They said, “This type of content has no place on Instagram. We have stopped our integration with Giphy as they investigate the issue.”

Are the .gifs back on Instagram?

Luckily yes. In late march Instagram re-partnered with Giphy after they pledged to quadruple-review their .gif library and involve more people in moderating the library. Gifs were reintroduced gradually, so if you haven't yet got them back, please be patient as they're on their way.

How do I use .gifs on Instastories?

Once you've taking a photo/video on Instagram stories, click the sticker button (the little smiley face in the top-right corner). Then tap the animated GIF button and search for your favourite gif to use.
