YouTube adds a simple, yet elegant symbol of tribute and mourning to its logo, in a message of solidarity for those affected by the tragedy
YouTube has added a black ribbon next to the logo on its homepage, as a sign of respect towards the victims of the terror attack in Manchester, UK. YouTube will place a black ribbon next to its logo during times of crisis or mourning, as it did after the murder of American Singer Christina Grimmie and in the immediate aftermath of other recent terror attacks around the world. The black ribbon is primarily used to signify a general feeling of mourning or respect.
It's a simple, yet elegant sign of respect for those who have been affected by this awful tragedy. One young victim of the attack has been named, and it transpires that she was a huge YouTube fan. The online community is now rallying to raise money for her family. Coloured ribbons can each have particular meanings and causes associated with them.
Our thoughts are with those affected.
