Fans call YouTube Rewind 2018 "the worst ever"

People really love hating on these Rewinds
YouTube Rewind 2018 is upon us and once again people are not happy.
In what has become a curious trend, the YouTube community has banded together in recent years to hate on the annual 'Rewind' video as much as possible. It's pretty much the only thing the very factionalised YouTube audience seems to agree on.
The video, which is supposed to recap the year that was on YouTube, currently has over 1.5 million dislikes and that number is rising by the second.

The reasons for this anger are endlessly varied. When you're making a video to please an unimaginably large audience that likes a very specific series of things and hates and even larger series of things, you're unlikely to please anyone.
It also doesn't help that the biggest YouTuber on the platform by far, PewDiePie, is totally unusable for a video as corporate and sanitised as the Rewind.
There's also a segment of the video that is focused on social issues which YouTube took issue with because... you know, it's YouTube.

Yeah. Its pretty bad.
I still dont HATE it. But it really did miss the mark.
30 seconds of people sitting and talking about how great they are.
My dad used to say "if you have to say how great you are then you ain't that great."
