We're totally with you Georgie!
In an emotional video on his YouTube channel, up-and-coming YouTuber Georgie Aldous had a serious question for his mother, friends and random people staring at him on the street - "why can't boys wear makeup?". Throughout the video, Georgie shares his thoughts on why makeup shouldn't gendered, in addition to pointing out that "makeup is art at the end of the day".
After putting on a full face of makeup, taking a selfie and uploading it to Facebook, Georgie recalls being confronted by his mother who had seen the image of her son covered in lipstick and eyeshadow. Instead of supporting his creative outlet and asking for contouring tips, she cornered Georgie and asked him whether he wanted to be a "transvestite", which deeply begs the question... why is it an "issue for men to wear makeup in 2016"?
In addition to pointing out that everything in his makeup bag belongs to him and no one else, he shares his thoughts on makeup and the way it's marketed to consumers; "Makeup isn't gendered in my opinion. I can wear makeup if I want to, doesn't mean I want to be a woman. I'm happy being a man. I just love to express myself through makeup... stop living in the dark ages!". Hallalou Georgie!
Clearly Georgie isn't the only YouTuber on the platform pioneering the change for makeup to be widely acceptable on both men and women with the likes of MannyMUA and Jeffree Star being hugely popular beauty YouTubers. And so, as a final word from Georgie, to all those people who stare at him when he has his false nails on and think he's a transvestite... "I don't give a f*ck!".
