This YouTuber Is Genuinely Going To Prison For Playing Pokémon Go

Another day, another dramatic Pokémon story. A Russian YouTuber by the name of Ruslan Sokolovsky, decided he would play Pokémon Go inside of a historic Russian church This may seem a rather random thing to do but Ruslan has a history of criticising the Russian church. Ruslan fronted the video by saying that he felt what he was about to do would be okay, saying: "I believe it's both safe and not prohibited by law." (Spoiler alert: nope).
Once the video went up, the Russian authorities began to look into it, which lead to the YouTuber being arrested and imprisoned - a harsh move, especially because Russia is usually so chill and inclusive. A statement from the Russian police said that his crimes are punishable by 'up to five years in prison'.
Yikes. The YouTuber is currently being detained for two months (ouch) pending further action. A hasthag campaign is already underway to try and free him. We hope the story has a peaceful resolution. Here's the full video:
