The YouTuber faced accusations of sexual misconduct in 2014.
A number of YouTubers have urged their followers to boycott a new book authored by Alex Day.
In 2014, Alex faced a number of allegations of misconduct with fans, and admitted to "manipulative relationships with women." His new book, which is called "Living And Dying On The Internet," and is being released on August 5th, has sparked anger within the YouTuber community - particularly from Alex's former girlfriend, Carrie Hope Fletcher.
Alex Day is publishing a book about his life (and death) online, apparently including details of our relationship," Carrie tweeted on July 24th, before urging her followers to not buy his book.
Alex Day is publishing a book about his life (and death) online, apparently including details of our relationship. When I first heard of the book I messaged him detailing how uncomfortable that would make me. This was his reply. Please don’t buy his book. pic.twitter.com/RYSGx94E4Z— Carrie Hope Fletcher (@CarrieHFletcher) July 25, 2018
Other YouTubers including Lucy Moon, Beckii Cruel, Rowan Ellis and Jaack have also spoken out against the book.
tw// There's a YouTuber who has just written a book about being vilified on the internet because he was accused by thirteen women of sexual misconduct. He is currently trying to climb the Amazon charts because he has no shame. Please don't support him, tag him, etc. thanks— Lucy Moon 🌻 (@iamnotlucymoon) July 24, 2018
about Al_ex Day - I was first-hand party to inappropriate advances while I was a 15 year old fangirl (unbalanced power dynamic). I know people to whom he did a lot worse. Not fair for him to write a book victimising himself but I guess his ego is still insatiable as ever. https://t.co/xyzi4bAdYM— beckii kind ✨ (@BeckiiCruel) July 24, 2018
For my followers who don't know - this is about Alex Day.— Rowan Ellis 🌈 (@HeyRowanEllis) July 24, 2018
I wish we could let him and his name disappear - but I fear trying has only allowed him to return with vulnerable people in the dark about his actions https://t.co/nwYrG9kPY4
