Alfie Deyes has some big plans for 2019 and he wants you to know it.

The YouTuber - sorry, creator - took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the current state of YouTube, and he did not mince words. Alfie quote-tweeted a tweet from Jay Swingler that read:

"What’s gonna happen in 2019 is; I’m making shit that I want to make, ME, not what YouTube or what you guys want us to make. Your own happiness comes first and anyone who doesn’t support that can suck a fat fuckin rodney. Fuck revenue, fuck views. The real ones will stick around".

Alfie responded:

"Me. It’s becoming embarrassing to be a ‘YouTuber’. 2019 is going to be a big year for creators on the site!"

Over the years the term 'YouTuber' has fallen out of fashion, while 'creator' becomes much more popular. This is likely due to a couple of factors: first, that the public perception of what a 'YouTuber' is is rarely positive, and not aided by the antics of people like Jake and Logan Paul.

Second, it's a looser term which covers the wide spectrum of talent available online: is a musician who posts songs on YouTube truly a 'YouTuber'? Use the word 'creator' and you sidestep that question.

Alfie has long been teasing the return of his 'main channel', which has been largely dormant for the past year. This grand return came in the form of his rather brilliant new video podcast series

He also met a flat-earther for some reason. Good for him:

What does 2019 have in store for Britain's little YouTube prince? We don't know, but we're extremely fucking excited to find out.
