Do better, YouTube.
On June 3rd, Elijah called YouTube out after fans reported that anti-gay adverts were appearing on his channel. In response, YouTube told Elijah that he could fill out a form to stop the problematic adverts appearing - ignoring the fact that homophobia shouldn't really have a place on YouTube whatsoever, as it violates their policies against hateful content.
Hi—you can keep these ads from appearing by setting an ad exclusion for a specific advertiser URL, general ad content categories, or sensitive content categories. Here's the link: https://t.co/eF5JdYjrNG. We are looking at ways to improve our policies going forward.— YouTube (@YouTube) June 4, 2018
"Don't think I should have to fill out a form to have homophobic ads not run on my... channel," Elijah responded. "How about just not running homophobic ads?"
Hi— don’t think i should have to fill out a form to have homophobic ads not run on my faggot channel that’s literally insane, how about just not running homophobic ads? https://t.co/7dTTUB2YOl— LIL PHAG (@elijahdaniel) June 4, 2018
Not the best start to Pride month, Youtube.
