Gabbie Hanna is getting backlash for making merch out of her meme

"When life gives you memes make merch"
Gabbie Hanna has not had the best month. A video from Genius of her breaking down the lyrics to her song 'Monster' blew up into a massive meme due to some of the... enthusiastic... vocals Gabbie decided to display.
The YouTuber decided that this video would be the best time to see if she could do that thing where you make a glass shatter with your voice, except instead of a glass it was various pieces of Genius' camera equipment.
But now Gabbie has turned the tables because, she says, "when life gives you memes make merch". And she has done just that, by making her singing face into a series of merch items, including shirts and pop-sockets.
It looks like the real monSTEEEEEEERRRRRR that's been here all along is the ever-present spectre of cold, hard capitalism.
And the response has been... shall we say... mixed
no ones buying this shit, this meme is gonna be dead in 2 days 💀— SASHA 🐍 (@matheodamian) December 11, 2018

nobody will be caught dead with this shite. i never heard of you before this meme and we’re not going to hear from you again after it either https://t.co/lSyxd3AbsQ— g (@danieIgayIewis) December 12, 2018
Damn Gabbie you really hopped on this. The meme literally came out days ago and you’re spitting out merch. Werk. 😭🥰— мαяу (@MurryCakester) December 12, 2018
There was also some brief contention when the artist of the original meme didn't appear to receive any credit
Gabbie I really really love you but I just think the person that made the meme deserves credit, especially since you are making money off of it. If @thatsadfox hadn’t made the meme, you wouldn’t be making money off that merch right now.— Teagan🖤This time next year. (@sweetpotato181) December 12, 2018
It’s been resolved now, I don’t really want credit anymore and I just want this whole thing to be over and done with, just for things to go back to normal— bagga skips ☃️🎄 (@ThatSadFox) December 12, 2018
Will you be copping this merch, bro? Hey bro, you gonna cop some of this merch? This merch bro... you coppin'? In terms of copping this merch, will you be one of the people who does? And if you do, will you? And will it be this merch?
