Gigi Gorgeous was tapped by Revlon thanks to her huge social following

YouTube star Gigi Gorgeous made history by becoming beauty brand Revlon's first out, transgender ambassador.

According to WWD the YouTuber, whose documentary This Is Everything received rave reviews after it landed on YouTube just this week, has been tapped by the brand thanks to her huge social following - including 2.2 million Instagram followers and 2.4 YouTube subscribers.

Gigi has always been a big fan of Revlon, she revealed to WWD.

"It's always been a staple at the drugstore, and when I started buying makeup, I always went to Revlon because I knew they had my back when it came to beauty," she explained.

Gigi Gorgeous is one of a growing number of trans women partnering with beauty brands.

In January this year, Caitlyn Jenner announced that she would be partnering with M.A.C to produce a makeup collection after the success of her one-off lipstick, named "Finally Free." Meanwhile trans model Hari Nef joined forces with L'Oreal to promote their brand in January as well.

Revlon said that they want to be "part of the conversations that are happening naturally and organically in the social sphere."

It's exciting to see so many makeup brands looking at beauty in all its form, from trans women and plus-sized models to male makeup fans like MannyMUA and James Charles. This is one trend we hope sticks around for as long as possible.
