James was not pleased

James Charles has apologised after calling out people for destroying his Morphe palette.

James had originally tweeted angrily about a YouTuber named Lauren Godwin who made a video which showed her destroying his palette. In a now-deleted tweet, James said:

"There are people who can’t afford the palette, can’t get it because it’s sold out, or who have been scammed by knock offs... and she’s gonna buy one just to destroy for likes... on tiktok? this ain’t it sis".

She responded with a video of her own in which she explained her motivations.

She says she was inspired by videos she had seen on TikTok of people destroying random things. She says she chose the James Charles palette specifically because she knew it would cause a big reaction. She emphasised that she has nothing against James and bought a palette for herself, as well as the one she destroyed.

James then walked back his angry comments

James relented on his original angry comments, tweeting:

"i'd like to say sorry to @laurengodwinnn for tweeting her palette video yesterday. i was hurt watching something i worked hard on be destroyed, but she bought it & can do as she pleases & i should have ignored it. it wasn't that deep & the hate she is receiving is never okay. 😔"

Some fans also accused him of hypocrisy.

Shortly after the palette drama, Jeffree Star posted a video in which he destroyed a load of makeup with James, using a flamethrower - an Elon Musk flamethrower, in fact.

This lead many to accuse James of hypocrisy, as he was so ready to attack Lauren for destroying his makeup yet posted a a video soon after of him destroying other people's makeup.

But there is more to this than meets the eye - as James specifically destroys his own palette in the video and dedicates the act to Lauren.

What do you make of all this? Do you think James was right to apologise? Do you think his video with Jeffree was hypocritical? Do you care at all about any of this even slightly? Let us know in our Facebook comments or tweet us @wetheunicorns.
