James is one of many victims of a massive Instagram glitch
James Charles is one of the many prominent Instagram users who suddenly found their follower count significantly torn down last night (Feb 12th). Those with higher follower counts seem most heavily affected, but many ordinary people (the little people, the peasants) also reported losing followers.

Initially users assumed that Instagram had gone on a bot hunt, sweeping away fake accounts in order to bring everyone's follower count back in line with reality. But it seems that, even if that was the original intention, things may have got a bit out of hand over at ol' Instagram HQ.
Instagram posted (ironically, on Twitter):
"We’re aware of an issue that is causing a change in account follower numbers for some people right now. We’re working to resolve this as quickly as possible."

But James may have got off lightly
Other celebs seem to have been even more badly devastated by Instagram's nonsense. Singer Zara Larsson tweeted: "Thank you, I lost 30 million followers, plz put them back".

We'll just have to wait and see what Instagram does about this. Maybe they'll fix it, maybe they won't. Ultimately we all die so, why does it really matter? Have a great day.
