Several creators weighed in with tweets about the James Charles scandal.
Unless you've been asleep, on a plane, without a WiFi connection or literally just in a cave, you'll have probably seen the absolute carnage that is happening on Twitter with James Charles and Tati Westbrook.
If you're not up to date with everything that's happened so far, here's a quick run down:
- Tati exposed James in a 43 minute video, calling out James' manipulative behaviour, his disloyalty and his attitude.
- James responded with an 8 minute apology video.
- James lost over 900,000 subscribers within 24 hours, while Tati gained 700,000+.
- Singer Zara Larsson has confirmed that James sent DMs to her straight boyfriend.
- Several high profile celebrities have now unfollowed James on Instagram.
Tati's original video has been viewed over 10 million times, Twitter is overflowing with brutal memes and tweets about the whole thing and of course, the YouTube community are weighing in on the scandal.
Here's what the YouTube community had to say about the whole thing:
Jeffree Star savagely congratulated friend Tati Westbrook on her huge 6 million subscriber milestone.
Jeffree also liked this tweet from a fan.

Tyler Oakley has HAD it!
imagine being a youtuber what a MESS— tyler oakley (@tyleroakley) May 10, 2019
Jenn McAllister had the same reaction.
omg it’s so embarrassing being a YouTuber in the year 2019 cause none of y’all can fuckin act right 💀— Jenn McAllister (@jennmcallister) May 10, 2019
yeah OG youtubers didn't put in work to pave the way for YouTube to be a respected platform in mainstream media just for the new wave to ruin it. As a viewer you have the ability to change that https://t.co/1Wz890QPeh— Jenn McAllister (@jennmcallister) May 10, 2019
Jackie Aina doesn't have time for it.
every single scandal, without fail. literally every single one. I somehow get tagged into it. I’m somehow a hypocrite. I’m somehow giving somebody a pass because I don’t react quickly enough for twitter. leave me ALONE. get off Twitter and do other stuff.— La Bronze James (@jackieaina) May 11, 2019
Pewdiepie tweeted about it. Apparently it was all the talk of Qatar's trend list.
I avoid news by picking trends in arabic countries. lmao cant even dodge this one pic.twitter.com/9eV7PPRVQA— ƿ૯ωძɿ૯ƿɿ૯ (@pewdiepie) May 11, 2019
Daniel Preda quote tweeted Jenn's sentiments about how embarrassing 2019 YouTube is, pointing out that "the platform in 2019 rewards clownery + foolishness."
THIS. I’ll say MOST og YouTubers deserve every ounce of respect & success for paving the way. There was no fame/clout chasing. Pure determination, passion, drive & talent for entertaining. Mostly this new crop can’t relate, but this platform in 2019 rewards clownery + foolishness https://t.co/48j3AHxK88— Mister Preda (@MisterPreda) May 11, 2019
Kandee Johnson also weighed in, replying to Daniel's comment.
You couldn’t make money on YouTube & there were no famous youtubers back when some of us started. It literally was because we had a passion to teach, make people laugh or entertain in a way that didn’t hurt, disrespect or insult anyone. It’s sad what YouTube has become now😔— Kandee Johnson (@kandeejohnson) May 11, 2019
Hank Green even chipped in, replying to a few tweets too.
Did you just hate-buy vitamins? 2019 is wild.— Hank (💚🦆) Green (@hankgreen) May 11, 2019
