"If I really wanted to take him down and ruin him and cancel James Charles, I would have been at every studio and I would have been sharing every detail that I could."
Following a week's worth of drama, savage memes, leaked texts and huge drops in subscribers, Tati Westbrook has uploaded another video explaining why she made the 'Bye Sister' video calling out James Charles.
In the 18 minute update called 'Why I Did It', Tati says that she knew that the original video would cause a lot of controversy, but she made the video because it was an attempt at "trying to reach someone who [she] found completely unreachable."
Explaining why she felt the need to call James out publicly, she said: "It was a cut much deeper than vitamins and I felt defensive because I was hearing people say that there was a story about me and it was just too much all at once... I'll defend the things I believe in and the things I know that I'm doing the right way."
When Tati made the video, she explains that she thought that she was going to be the one who took the biggest hit. She also addressed what's happened to her and James' subscriber count, saying that's that not why she uploaded the video. "There's no celebration in what's happening. And if I could give all of the new success back and the new subscribers back, I would."
Since uploading the video, Tati and her family have been contacted by the media. She says that she was offered tons of interviews but confirms that she didn't accept any of them.
"If I really wanted to take him down and ruin him and cancel James Charles, I would have been at every studio and I would have been sharing every detail that I could," she says in the video. "Just know that I didn't."
Tati has been trying to contact James through Google so that they can talk through things face to face. She doesn't think that their relationship will ever be repaired but she wants the opportunity to tell him that she doesn't hate him, she loves him.
"I don't think his career is over, I don't think he's cancelled. I think he needs some help and I think he needs better people around him."
Tati also called for social media to stop the hate targeted toward James, and for the "picking sides" and "abusive memes" to stop. She doesn't hate James, she doesn't want others hating on him either.
