Jeffree Star has responded to the apology video Manny MUA posted which sent shockwaves through the beauty YouTube community. He did not actually choose his words himself, but rather shared a lengthy (and shady) statement from a fan, saying it 'sums up (his) thoughts on the apology video'. Take a look at it here:
This sums up my thoughts on his apology video. Now please stop asking me about it, I'm busy being happy lol <3 https://t.co/hvo2vxXETx— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) August 24, 2018
What is he responding to?
Well, on August 23rd, Manny Mua uploaded a video titled 'My reality check' to his channel in which he apologised to his former friend Jeffree Star as well as several other beauty YouTubers for his past behaviour.
His apology follows a video posted by his friend Gabriel Zamora who said he had cut Manny out of his life after a conversation with Jeffree Star about his friendship with Manny.
It all started after Gabriel called Jeffree to apologise for a shady af picture he posted (now deleted) with Manny, Laura Lee, and Nikita Dragon with the caption: "Bitch is bitter because without him we're doing better".
The caption was clearly about Jeffree and after his fans called Gabriel out for bullying AND dug up some old racist tweets he'd written (along with racist tweets by Laura Lee too - more on that here), Gabriel called Jeffree to apologise and then they discussed Manny and why their friendship had ended. Gabriel claims that it was the first time he had heard the story from Jeffree's side and details about the story resonated with his own experiences with Manny.
"A lot of clarity came from that conversation. A lot of things made a lot more sense, once I heard the other side of the story. I thought, 'my friends [would] tell me the truth.' That’s not always the case."
"There is a certain individual that I need to cut out of my life, because it’s always just been toxic. A lot of the negativity around [me] and around [my] friends has been due to this one person. There’s the same factor in all these negative situations around [my] life… and that’s Manny."
Manny then apologised for his actions, claiming that his issues with communication and dealing with confrontation brought out a 'bad side in him'. He also spoke about how vlogging has made him into a person he doesn't particularly like.
Speaking of his feud with Jeffree, Manny said: "there were things that were mutually done to one another that hurt the other. You know, the fact that we didn't communicate that to each other better is truly where I feel our downfall was. It was our lack of communication."
"Jeffree has done so much for me in my life, I would not be where I am today without Jeffree. Jeffree has helped me in insurmountable ways. He truly, truly has. If I could go back and fix things with Jeffree, I would. I really really would." Manny said."
Well, looks like Jeffree is having none of it.
Jeffree hasn't commented on Manny's video (yet) but has favourited some tweets instead and he's clearly not buying Manny's apology.
Literally feel like Manny's apology is irrelevant at this point. He said everything that Gabby said was true... But didn't admit to talking shit on Jeffree and slaughtering his name, and STIRRING that pot. Uhm. Hm. He owed his viewers alot more details than what he gave. ✌️— Katlyn (@Katlyn46956255) August 23, 2018
And be, as Manny calls it, ‘human.’— Chocolate Syn (@chocolate_syn) August 23, 2018
He addressed this situation like he was rehearsing for a PowerPoint presentation.
He owned-up to what his pride afforded his ego for a convenience narrative then only to express sociopathic narcissism by blaming Patrick and Jeffree.
