"I am mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually exhausted"
Lilly Singh has posted a new video titled 'I'll see you soon...' in which she informs her fans that she will be taking a break from YouTube - the first break she has taken in a very, very long time.
Lilly says she "doesn't want this to be a dramatic video" and says there are 'much more important' things happening in the world. She also says that this is "in no way reflection of how I feel about the platform of YouTube or Team Super... this is about me".
Lilly says there are many reasons for her break but that "first and foremost" is her mental health. "I could be happier" she says. She explains that she is "mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually exhausted". She goes on to add that YouTube can feel like "a machine" where creators are expected to pump out videos constantly.
Lilly is also happy to admit that she does not really understand YouTube any more - "whatever currently works on YouTube does not make me happy" she says.
However, she adds that previous comments she may have made about newer successful YouTubers (probably the Paul brother, let's be honest) were just her being "salty" and that she now accepts that they have merely found a strategy that works for them.
In the end, she says she wants to stop chasing YouTube success in terms of numbers and focus on what makes herself happy.
Fans reacted with a ton of support for Lilly

So when is Lilly coming back?
Lilly does not have a concrete date for her return to YouTube. She is keen to emphasise that she is not leaving the site wholesale, but says "it might be a one week break, it might be a one month break" and that she won't come back until she "is ready".
She says she hopes her viewers will be ready to accept her back when she returns, so everyone can carry on as they were.
