We wouldn't people to think the Flat Earth Society was some kind of joke, would we?

The Flat Earth Society, a society of people who, you guessed it, believe the earth is flat, have distanced themselves from YouTuber Logan Paul after he made a splash at a flat earth conference.

Logan hopped on stage, apparently uninvited and announced that he was 'coming out of the flat earth closet' as a person who believes that yes, the earth is not round, but flat.

This unexpected announcement, which was almost certainly done as a prank, ticked off some members of the Flat Earth Society - a real thing that exists.

They took to Twitter (where, much like the scientific fact of the roundness of the earth, they are verified), to dismiss Logan and deny any link between his hijinx and their group.

Notably, they say:

"This announcement came as a surprise to most, given a complete lack of Logan's prior interest in the subject, and the nature of the content he usually produces. Understandably, this has raised a number of questions from the general public, and we have been approached to comment."

They were keen to emphasise that they are not affiliated with Logan.

The group stated that:

"As of the time of publishing this statement, TFES has not been in contact with Logan Paul, and we have no intention of offering him membership or otherwise affiliating with him. Claims that Logan Paul is a member of TFES or that he may be considered for membership are untrue."

It's at times like these that I'm reminded of Groucho Marx's famous quote: "I don't want to belong to any Flat Earth Society that would have me as a member".

Bad luck, Logan.
