"I think it's really important to talk about it"
TW: Eating disorders
Mark Ferris has posted a new video in which he opens up about his issues with eating, in the hope of raising awareness of the issue.
Mark says: "One of the main reasons why I want to make this video is... when it comes to eating problems and issues I don't see many male YouTubers or male people with a voice speaking about it... obviously it happens to all genders... so I also really wanted to raise awareness of that... eating disorders can happen with anyone."
In the video, Mark discusses how for a while he was very focused on being "skinny".
"I don't know what switched for me where I just suddenly didn't want to eat... I don't know if I subconsciously felt pressured by what I was seeing online... I just knew that I didn't have a great relationship with food."
Mark does not claim to be an expert and emphasises that "this is my story" and he's sharing in cause "it can help one person".
He says that part of what may lead him to the mindset he was in, was his previous reluctance to open up and be vulnerable to those close to him. He says "if I have an issue I'd much rather keep it to myself... and that's not good."
Mark emphasises that: "even if you are a strong person, it's okay to let your guard down sometimes to someone".
Mark says his only intention with this video is to try and help, in what ever way he can, by sharing his story.
"If you're watching this video and thinking 'oh my god, that is my story', I advise you to speak about it and just see if you can get on the right track about being healthy".
