Twitch's biggest streamer Ninja has left the internet divided after revealing that he won't play games online with female gamers.

Speaking at a recent Samsung event, Ninja - real name Tyler Blevins - revealed that he avoids playing with women gamers publicly because he believes it will spark rumours about infidelity. Expanding on his comments, he told Polygon, “If I have one conversation with one female streamer where we’re playing with one another, and even if there’s a hint of flirting, that is going to be taken and going to be put on every single video and be clickbait forever,” Ninja has been married to fellow gamer Jessica Goch since August 2017.

The revelation has left fans and commentators divided. Some have branded Ninja sexist after the revelation, with one commenting that women find it harder to make it in the gaming industry "because men like him don't even want to entertain the notion of letting them in."

Another fan said they'd "lost a lot of respect" for the gamer, following his comments.

Some, however, have said that Ninja can stream with whomever he wishes. Fellow gamer Daequan accused those criticising Ninja of being "clout chasers," while Twitch streamer Laura Lux said, "if Ninja actually did stream with a girl it would be a disaster. this community is a toxic sexist shitshow and she would be labeled his side bitch, relentlessly harassed for being a home-wrecking slut and spammed."
