Meet your new queens
By Fiona Morris
At the time of writing it's Pride month and we're celebrating some of our favourite queer women on YouTube. Sit back and prepare to be more shook than that Babadook.
Stevie's channel is the channel you NEEDED in high school. She talks candidly about lesbian sex and relationships in a very successful attempt to normalise them. It's refreshing, exciting and educational. Her addictive personality will draw in anybody and also, cats. Exceptional cats.
Gigi is undoubtedly the queen of YouTube. Her channel is honest and beauty-based, but her recent documentary, "This Is Everything", took things to a whole new level. It followed her life from childhood to coming out and then to her enormous successes online. She's a beauty queen, a businesswoman and an inspiration.
You've almost certainly seen episodes of Hannah's ridiculously nonsensical series My Drunk Kitchen, where she gets drunk and attempts to cook a delicious meal. Emphasis on 'attempts'. In recent years she has opened up about mental health, LGBT+ issues and her personal life. We're in love and you surely will be, too.
dodie (with a lowercase 'd') is absolutely everybody's girl crush. Her main channel features addictive and emotional original music but on her second channel her personality truly shines. She's open, kind-hearted, complex and hugely talented. You won't want to look away.
Alayna's channel is like a really great lucky dip- you never know what you're going to get but you know it's going to be good. The shining star is her series "I Don't Bi It" where she talks to people about their sexual orientation and gender identity in a hilarious and sarcastic manner. She also talks about mental health, her vegan lifestyle and so much more.
Tess and Kayla
After dealing with a long-distance relationship for many years these girls are finally living together, and you can follow their entire journey on YouTube. This is a pure and wholesome channel that will make you realise love is real and the world is good.
Shannon's channel is HILARIOUS. Her channel includes advice videos, travel vlogs and stories about her experiences as a gay girl. She already has a Shorty award AND a British LGBT+ award under her belt so you had better pay attention before she takes over the internet.
Rose and Rosie
Rose and Rosie are the cutest couple on the internet. This is an undisputed fact and anybody who disagrees is wrong. Their videos will have you dying of laughter, their wedding video will make you literally cry and their relationship will make you scream "GOALS!"
If you're curious about the importance of representation, intersectional feminism and activism then Rowan's channel is for you. Her videos are always well-researched, topical and palatable to those just getting into these heavy issues.
Domo and Crissy
Domo and Crissy have risen to fame very quickly with their entertaining daily vlogs. They also pull pranks and spoil each other rotten on anniversaries, birthdays or just because. The recent addition of their baby Domonic has given their channel a whole new dose of cute, prompting experts to brand their channel as "Officially Too Cute".
Riley Jay Dennis
Riley's work on YouTube is heavily important. She talks candidly about politics, feminism and LGBTQ+ issues, as well as sharing insights into her life with videos about Pokemon Go, her favourite TV shows and lesbian crushes. Her research is impeccable and you'll finish binge-watching her channel feeling as if you should and CAN take on the world.
Instantly addictive, artistic and officially The World's Most Attractive Person, Ari Fitz is a rising star. She has the ability to just turn on the camera, talk about absolutely anything and create content you can't get enough of. Recurring themes are discussions about her experiences dating as a queer and polyamorous girl in LA and her personal sense of style. There are also very, very important videos of her dancing in her underwear.
Annie Elainey will instantly give you a wider outlook on life. Her channel focuses on disability, LGBT+ issues, intersectional feminist and race. This girl is the definition of #woke and you need to get on board.
