Zoella Opens Up About 'Really Difficult' Travel Anxiety

She released the video as part of Mental Health Awareness Week
Zoe emphasises that "I have had really, really bad anxiety since my teens", a fact she has always been open about. She says she now wants to talk about her anxiety with flying so that people know "they are not alone" and don't need to controlled by it.
Zoe says she has been flying a lot more lately, which has always been one of her greatest "nemeses", and wants to share how she has managed to do it.
In her video, she has "curated a list of things that have really helped (her)". She does not claim that these tips will provide a "cure", but she says they can be helpful. She puts her general progress with her anxiety down instead to the years she has spent working with a therapist.
Here are some of her tips (which she actually wrote down on an plane):
- Realising the link between her anxiety and tendency to feel travel sickness, distinguishing them, and taking steps to deal with the sickness.
- Bringing things to distract you (like a good book).
- Make sure you're well prepared ahead of your trip, to minimise unnecessary stress.
- Making your airport experience as stress-free as possible will help make your flight less stressful.
